Oshus and Shelly Save the Bay

Oyster Recover Project Benefit:  "Oshus and Shelly Save the Bay" was approved as a supplemental text by the Anne Arundel County Board of Education in the Reading Language Arts category, and as a media selection in the Science category for 2nd-5th graders.

Approximately 300 copies of the book have been sold so far, thanks in part to Elm Street Development, who purchased 200 copies for the Kindergartners, 2nd, and 4th graders at Millersville Elementary School. We are actively seeking sponsors to purchase the books for elementary school students. Sponsors are recognized through press releases and other marketing materials, on the website, and via customized stickers on the inside cover of every book.

Individual copies are $10.50, and can be purchased at the following locations: Annapolis Furniture on West Street, Be Beep in Annapolis and Severna Park, Black Market Minerals in downtown Annapolis, Bay Media in Arnold, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, and GraulÕs of Cape St. Claire. Three dollars from the sale of each book directly benefits the Severn River Association providing financial support for its Oyster Recover programs. The book can also be purchased directly by sending $14 (includes S&H) to Jennifer Curtis at 1250 Cynder Court, Annapolis, MD 21401. Additional information is available on the website: www.oysterbook.com.

As schools request presentations (reading of the book and demonstration with live oysters), we will begin looking for volunteers. Anyone interested should call Jennifer at (410) 626-8904 or e-mail at jcurtis@toad.net or Jane Sinclair at (410) 721-6877 or e-mail at sra@toad.net.

Jane Sinclair and Jennifer Curtis appeared on WYREÕs Yard Birds (810 am) from 12:20-1 p.m. on Monday, November 8 to talk about the book and SRA.
